Sunday 5th July 10am-4pm
Join Iona & Joe (Pottery & Pizza) for a unique and relaxed day of creativity and fire, as we combine the excitement of Raku with the simple pleasure of wood-fired pizza.
The day is divided into two enjoyable activities that run alongside one another. You'll glaze pre made biscuit fired pots, vases and vessels, these will all be slightly different so you can pick a vessel that is unique to you. There will be a variety of different coloured glazes to choose from.
While your first pots are being fired you will be invited to top your pizzas which will be cooked in our food fired oven by the wonderful Joe.
Once you are refreshed and the first batch of pots will be out of the kiln and cooled from their saw dust reduction fire you will be able to see the results of your glazes and choose how your second pot will be glazed.
This is a laid-back, social experience with plenty of time to chat, watch the magic happen, and enjoy the atmosphere. Both Raku firing and pizza making involve moments of anticipation, so we recommend bringing a comfortable camping chair and settling in for a day of creativity, conversation, and good company.
With lots happening throughout the day, you'll be able to move between the pottery and pizza activities, enjoying the process as glowing pots emerge from the kiln and freshly made pizzas cook in the wood-fired oven.

What is Raku Firing? Raku is a traditional Japanese pottery firing technique known for its dramatic and unpredictable results. Pots are removed from the kiln while glowing red hot and placed into combustible materials, creating stunning metallic effects, crackles, flashes of colour from reduction atmospheres, and unique surface patterns.
